Wataniya Telecom, the leading telecommunications provider in Kuwait serving up to 40% of the country mobile customers, has successfully launched in partnership with TransferTo innovative cross borders top-up service.
International workers, travellers and visitors who are using Wataniya prepaid cards in Kuwait, may now recharge the prepaid mobile phone of their relatives back home. To perform an international top-up, the sender simply needs to SMS 1919 with the selected amount denomination and destination number. The transaction is processed in real-time through TransferTo secure platform; both sender and receiver are immediately notified by SMS.
"We are pleased to have Wataniya Telecom as our first client in Kuwait. The Wataniya service branded "international top-up service" enables the strong communities of international workers in Kuwait to transfer airtime to reload the prepaid phones of their family and friends in India, Egypt, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Jordan, Indonesia and the Philippines" said Eric Barbier.
TransferTo operates a global airtime remittance network interconnecting the mobile operators' prepaid users. Airtime remittance enables international workers to send micro value amounts which are in turn generating significant local value for an increasing number of recipients.
"We are pleased to top up our customers' mobile experience with convenience and flexibility", Says Juha Petri Korhonen, Wataniya Telecom Marketing director. "With International top up service, Wataniya is now proposing an ideal solution to complement its expatriate subscribers' regular money remittances, by enabling easy, real time and secure sending of small value amounts to friends and family members back home, securing a round the clock connection".
Thanks to TransferTo, mobile operators, retailers, banks and money transfer, companies can offer an innovative and differentiating service to their ethnic segment -- an underserved market with a high telecom spending usage.
With more than 100 migration corridors fully covered over 5 continents, TransferTo is a leading global player in the international airtime remittance space.
