MoneyGram (NASDAQ:MGI), a global provider of money transfer services, is announcing a series of initiatives to help the Nepali people who were impacted by the devastation caused by the April 25 earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8; there are more than six million people living within 60 miles of the epicenter.MoneyGram is making a $25,000 donation to AmeriCares to support immediate relief efforts. In addition, from now until May 31, 2015, MoneyGram is waiving the transaction fee for customers in the United States who want to make a financial gift online to American Red Cross International Services, which will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to those in need. Customers can also make a donation at a MoneyGram location using the MoneyGram ExpressPayment® service. Lastly, through May 31, 2015, TransferTo and MoneyGram are partnering to offer free mobile top-ups for friends and family in Nepal who were affected by the earthquake.
