DOCOMO PACIFIC, a subsidiary of NTT DOCOMO and Guam's largest mobile network operator, and TransferTo, the leading provider of international airtime remittance services today announced the launch of DOCOMO PACIFIC's "Send-a-Load" service targeting Guam's Filipino community.
Guam is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the western Pacific Ocean and is home to a large community of Filipino expats who now account for over 25% of Guam's population, a figure likely to increase substantially in the short term given the fast development of the island and the planned build up of the US military's presence there.
This new service makes it easy for Filipinos, Guam's second largest ethnic-group population, to send instant small value transfers to their loved ones in the Philippines in the form of prepaid top-ups. Low in cost, high in value, international prepaid mobile top-ups are the ideal complement to money remittances. By enabling airtime transfers to Globe, Smart and Sun Cellular, DOCOMO PACIFIC offers its customers a full coverage in the Philippines. All top-ups are performed in real time by SMS, which makes the service convenient to use anytime, anywhere.
Eric Barbier, CEO at TransferTo, said he is "convinced that Filipinos living in Guam will find great value in this service enabling them to make instant gifts to their loved ones in the Philippines" and added that "the partnership with DOCOMO PACIFIC is a major addition to the TransferTo Global Airtime Remittance Hub, with NTT's "Send-a-Load service" enabling just another one of the Philippines' large emigrant communities to make the gift of Airtime while abroad". With DOCOMO PACIFIC, TransferTo, a fast growing network, further improves its footprint in the Asia Pacific Region, confirming its position as the leading provider of global airtime remittance services.
"Send-A-Load is our latest service in a series of products focused on serving the telecommunications needs of the Filipino market", states Tom Valderrama, Chief Commercial Officer for DOCOMO PACIFIC. "Send-A-Load plays a key role in DOCOMO PACIFIC's mission to ensure total customer satisfaction to all segments of the telecom market on Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Island (CNMI)".
DOCOMO PACIFIC will be marketing the Send-A-Load program via Filipino-targeted media on Guam and the CNMI. The campaign will focus primarily on print, radio, SMS and Facebook advertising and features an animated super-character named.
"Pinoy Power Man". DOCOMO PACIFIC will also do extensive direct promotions via on-site sales at companies and events frequented by inbound contract workers from the Philippines.
About DOCOMO PACIFIC
A wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan's leading telecommunications provider, NTT DOCOMO, DOCOMO PACIFIC was originally a merger of two Guam-based telecom companies - Guamcell Communications and HafaTel - prior to acquisition in December 2006 by NTT DOCOMO. This acquisition allowed NTT DOCOMO the opportunity to share its world-leading technology with the region through significant investments and upgrades to DOCOMO PACIFIC. In October 2008, DOCOMO PACIFIC was first on Guam to introduce the fastest and only 3.5G network. Since then, DOCOMO PACIFIC has been enhancing the multitude of mobile services available to customers on Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). DOCOMO PACIFIC is currently Guam's leading telecommunications provider.
