DiGi appoints TransferTo to implement international mobile reload.

DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi"), a leading mobile telecommunications company in Malaysia, appointed TransferTo as the latter's technology partner to offer DiGi Talktime Transfer International service. This service is an international mobile top-up service, which enables DiGi's subscribers to send credit to the prepaid mobile account of their relatives abroad.Launched in April 2008, the DiGi Talktime Transfer International service is currently available for transfers to Indonesia and the Philippines; and will soon be extended to include other countries. This service enables DiGi prepaid customers to send small amounts of value to their home country. The sender simply needs to enter the amount and destination number and send it via SMS. Transaction is processed in real-time through TransferTo secured platform, where both sender and receiver are immediately notified by SMS. Transfers are available to all major operators in Indonesia and the Philippines. Depending on the countries and operators, top-up from 6 to 26 Malaysian Ringgits (US$1,80 and US$7,80) are available.More than 97% of mobile subscribers in Indonesia and the Philippines are prepaid users[1]. There are 2 million Indonesians[2] and 650,000 Filipinos[3] living and working in Malaysia. They traditionally transfer part of their earnings every month directly to the household head in their home country. However, they have no appropriate solution for sending smaller amounts to the rest of their family on special occasions. TransferTo comes as the perfect solution for giving out prepaid credits as a gift for birthdays, festivals, celebrations and so on.The small amount transfer service was much awaited by these populations as a complement to their usual money remittance. DiGi is one of the first operators to address the migrants market, which has been overlooked and underserved so far. Talktime Transfer International solution reflects DiGi's strong focus on bringing innovative and affordable solutions to its subscribers."TransferTo solution allows DiGi to offer foreign workers a global package of services that totally suits their requirements, especially for small value transfers," states Eric Barbier, Managing Director, TransferTo.In the coming months, DiGi will keep developing this successful initiative with extended coverage and a wider choice for international credit transfersTransferTo will be present at Gitex Technology Week in Dubai, UAE from 19-23 October and will exhibit at AfricaCom in Cape Town, South Africa from 18-19 November.[1] Merrill Lynch study - December 2007 - 97,5% prepaid subscribers in Indonesia and 97,7% in the Philippines for the 3rd quarter of 2007[2] Jakarta Post, January 2008 - http://old.thejakartapost.com/yesterdaydetail.asp?fileid=20080111.K04TransferTo[3] Nam Summit 2003 - http://www.ops.gov.ph/namsummit2003/backgrounder.htm#FILIPINO
